Lynda Troy (Principal)

Director of Mind Professionals, Lynda has been a registered psychologist, practising since 1992 and works in private practice full-time. She has specialist qualifications in both Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology.

Lynda has extensive experience in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology and Forensic Psychology, in the public and private sectors, and in the role of an expert witness within the legal setting. She has a sound background in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, adults, couples and families for a broad range of clinical issues, including depression, anxiety, relationship and self esteem issues and adjustment difficulties.

Her areas of interest include the treatment of stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment and emotional issues. She also offers psychological assessment to target a wide range of needs (e.g. aiding diagnosis, medico legal/personal injury and compensation claims, pre-sentence or pre-trial reports, return to work programmes, competency issues, and academic/educational issues). Interventions are provided to help maximize strengths identified, and minimize the impact of weaknesses. Particular areas of interest are in neuropsychological rehabilitation of executive and behavioural difficulties following brain injury, and assessment of competency and dementia.

Lynda's research in the area of psychological effects of chemotherapy has been recognized internationally, with awards including the prestigious Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Scholarship for the Allied Health Sciences.

Lynda was appointed a Clinical Consultant at the Psychology Clinic at the University of Queensland in 1999, and has been actively involved in providing supervision for post-graduate students. She has also presented lectures to post-graduate students at the University of Queensland, Griffith University and University of Melbourne and provided training for external organizations.

Elle Gianvanni

Elle Gianvanni

Elle has specialist qualifications in Forensic Psychology, and currently provides forensic and clinical consultations, assessments and psychological interventions for Mind Professionals. She has been practicing in Australia for 2 years. Prior to moving to Australia Elle has worked and volunteered in correctional settings in Italy and America working with violent offenders and collaborating with local and federal law enforcement departments. She has also worked with non-forensic clientele in community settings.

 Elle has extensive experience working with forensic clientele, predominantly adults within correctional and community settings, and public and private sectors.Within the forensic area, Elle specializes in pre-sentence assessments and reports, assessments of risk of future offending, assessments of psychological status or damage, anger management, violent and/or sexual offending behaviour, psychopathologies impacting on offending behaviour and personality disorders.

She also has experience working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and impulsive behaviour. Her training and background are in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychoanalysis.

Her areas of interest include personality disorders and offending behaviours, management of aggression, anger and violence, psychopathy, enhancing treatment compliance among forensic population, forensic interviewing techniques, attachment styles and offending behaviours, and forensic psychological profiling.

Bobbi Dobson-Patterson

Bobbi Dobson-Patterson

B. Psy. (Hons) Assoc MAPS

Bobbi Dobson-Patterson is a Clinical Psychologist with eight years experience in the public and private sectors, working with people experiencing difficulties with drugs and alcohol, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting, relationships, self esteem, stress, brain injury, and adult AD/HD and related issues. Her training and background are in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and she takes a lifespan development approach, taking care to view peoples problems within the context of their particular age and stage, as well as within their unique situation.

She is in the process of completing the dissertation research of her PhD in Clinical Psychology on the neuropsychology of adults with AD/HD at Griffith University, and has a special interest in applying what we know about brain/behaviour relationships to the real-world problems we face. She emigrated to Brisbane from the USA in 1991 and is an enthusiastic fan of all things Australian, especially its people, beaches and language.

Weng Seng Tan

 BA (Hons. Psych), Grad Dip Ed, M.Psych, MAPS

Seng Tan has commenced with Mind Professionals in 2010. He has postgraduate specialist qualifications in Educational and Developmental Psychology, and has also developed a special interest in Forensic Psychology. He is a qualified teacher, and has worked as a Child Guidance Officer in educational settings for 7 years, and has also worked as a Trauma Counsellor, in workplace rehabilitation, and as a Carer for clients with disabilities.  Seng has extensive training in many treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focus Therapy, and Gap Therapy.

Seng has a background in art, and uses his artistic skills in conjunction with different therapies to assist clients (especially children)  with social skills difficulties, depression, anxiety, anger management issues, behavioural difficulties and communication  or relationship issues. He has a special interest in body image and self esteem. He is also a qualified Positive Parenting Program (PPP) presenter.

Seng has extensive experience in working with children and adolescents in educational settings, and also has experience in working with clients with disabilities (as a Carer, Teacher, and Psychologist). As part of his role with Disability Services Commission in Western Australia, he evaluated the state wide program regarding inclusivity of students with disabilities in government schools. He has a particular interest in quality of life and management of disabilities, stereotypes and social categorisation, and multicutural psychology.

In his work in the private sector, he has worked with adults in crisis as a Trauma Counsellor, and also in his educational role in developing appropriate parenting or management strategies for children and adolescents. 

He is experienced in administration, interpretation and evaluation of psychometric testing, and development of individual and group interventions and programs, and has a particular interest in language development and learning difficulties and behavioural modification.

In terms of Forensic Psychology, Seng has experience in assessment and treatment of  offenders (particular children and adolescents), and conducts evaluations and risk assessments for presentence reports, victims of crimes and personal injury as well as child custody evaluations.

Davina Sanders

BA (Psych), BA Psych (Hons), M.Clin.Psych, MAPS

Davina  has specialist postgraduate training in Clinical Psychology. She has experience working as a psychologist in both the public and private sectors and has recently returned from 3 years working in Canada. Her areas of experience include acute mental health issues, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, trauma, personality and cognitive disorders, and return to work programs. She has conducted research in disordered eating patterns in adolescents, and in auditory and visual perception.

As well as being a Psychologist, Davina is a Pilates and dance instructor, and has worked in roles combining these disciplines in aiding individuals to achieve health in both body and mind. 

Davina has special area of interests in assessment and treatment of eating disorders, anxiety and depression, and adjustment issues, and works with adults, children couples and families.  She is also developing skills in Forensic Psychology, particularly in assessment and treatment of victims of crime, trauma and abuse and personal injury.

Harriet Bodimeade

Mind Professionals is committed to supporting advanced professional and specialist training for psychologists. As part of our programme, we provide placements for trainee psychologists in their 6th year of University study.

Our current Intern Psychologist is Harriet Bodimeade. Harriet is completing her University of Queensland Psychology Clinic supervision  with Mind Professionals, as part of her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Neuropsychology).
